Vandemoortele has decided to focus on its bakery (frozen bakery products) and lipids (fats and margarines) divisions and is preparing to sell off its soya foods division, Alpro.

The Belgian group’s bakery and lipids divisions make up 80% of its turnover, and it has said it wants to "further expand in Europe in these activities".

The decision has been made due to the current financial and macro-economic climate, and the company has said it will focus on the segments in which it has traditionally been strong.

Vandemoortele recently took over French company Panavi, which produces frozen bakery products.
