== Dunkin’ into China ==

US coffee and baked goods chain, Dunkin’ Donuts, has opened its first shop in mainland China. The firm has secured agreements to open 150 shops in China over the next 10 years, which include plans to open 100 in Shanghai. The new outlet will offer its internationally recognised menu as well as items to suit local taste preferences, such as green tea donuts and mochi rings.

== Tiger release ==

South African company Tiger Brands released its full-year results, ended 30 September 2008, which showed growth in both its Milling and Baking, and Grains divisions. Operating income in Milling and Baking rose 6% to R764.9m (£51.2m), compared with R724.3m (£48.4m) for the same 2007/08 period. The company said its Milling and Baking division has managed to absorb significant raw material cost increases.

== Ethical Starbucks ==

Starbucks has made a commitment that, by the end of 2009, all espressos sold - both whole bean and espresso-based beverages including cappuccino and caffe latte - in its stores in the UK and Ireland will become both Starbucks ’Shared Planet’ and Fairtrade Certified. It is part of a broader global commitment that includes plans to double its global purchases of Fairtrade Certified coffee to 40m lb in 2009. Starbucks has also just opened its first outlet in Bulgaria.

== Coffee compromise ==

According to Reuters.com, Coffee Republic has completed a debt compromise deal with Barclays, allowing it to eliminate its bank debt on commercially attractive terms. The coffee chain raised about £680,000 last month by placing around 2.27 million shares at 30p each to repay Barclays and secure further working capital.
