Thorntons launches new cake bites snack to capitalise on growing market

Finsbury Food Group is launching a new Thorntons-branded range of cake bites in resealable bags under licence. 

Little Temptations are clusters of chocolate, cornflakes and fudge and come in milk and dark varieties. They will be sold by Tesco, Morrisons, Asda, The Co-operative Group and Nisa.

The product comes in 110g zip-lock bags, which Finsbury has claimed is a category first.

Natalie Nairn, Finsbury Food Group brand manager, said: “As market leader in the cake bites segment, we know what works well. We are excited to be launching the first cake bite into the market that is packaged in a fantastic re-sealable bag.

“Increasing numbers of consumers want treats that can be shared in and out of home and we believe the format of Little Temptations fits this perfectly.”

Thorntons has a 40% share of the £35m cake bites market and has seen its sales grow 25% [IRI 52 w/e 18 July 2015].
