Cake company Johnstone's Just Desserts has won a listing with Sainsbury's in Scotland for its new Luxury range.

The deal, struck by Johnstone's director Kevin Moore, will see Caramel Shortbread Squares, Cheesecake Mini Bites, Snowmen Printed Caramel Shortcake Mini Bites, and Cranberry Flapjacks with Caramel and Chocolate Drizzle stocked in 19 of the multiple's 27 stores.

The launch at Sainsbury's follows a £2m investment in packaging, new product development and equipment at the 10,500sq ft Withshaw plant, which employs 64 staff and has a turnover of £4m.

Rebranding of Just Desserts' existing Classic range will follow in the New Year.

Just Desserts is to use field marketing and distribution specialists Retail Sales Solutions to place the range with other major grocery retailers north and south of the border.

It will provide sales, logistics and distribution support for both the Luxury and Classic ranges.
