Retail bakery business Candy Cakes will focus on its partnership with Tesco following an outlet closure.
A spokesperson for Candy Cakes said that the closure of the brand’s outlet in Kingly Court, London tied in with the company’s partnership with Tesco.
In April this year an outlet was installed in Tesco in Ware Road, Hertford, replacing Costa Coffee, as well as in Canary Wharf.
Established in 2006 by Michael Thomaides, the company has a further five outlets in London, including its flagship store in Covent Garden and toy shop Hamleys.
In February this year Candy Cakes signed its first international franchise deal with The Landmark Group, with a view to open 14 new outlets open in Dubai in the next year. Further expansion was also reported for Canada, India and China.
Speaking to British Baker earlier this year, Thomaides said: “We were approached by The Landmark Group, which was looking for a cake brand to partner with. At the time we weren’t really thinking about expanding as we are a small company, but they had the infrastructure in place to do it so it seemed like a good idea.”
The retail bakery business is due to release its Halloween inspired cakes today.
