Following the success of BBC Two’s The Great British Bake Off, aspiring bakers from Ireland now have the chance to battle it out in a brand new television series.

The Great Irish Bake Off, which will be broadcasted on Irish television network TV3, is currently looking for contestants to compete as part of the eight-episode series.

It will be presented by Irish television personality Anna Nolan and will feature an expert judging panel, similar to GBBO’s Paul Hollywood and Mary Berry, including baker and top selling cookery writer Biddy White Lennon.

The application form states that it is looking for amateur bakers who can show skill, enthusiasm, drive, a love of baking and who are lively characters and will be comfortable being filmed.

Filming of The Great Irish Bake Off is expected to take place between November 2012 and April 2013.

The closing date for contestant applications for The Great Irish Bake Off is Monday 15 October.
