Warrens Bakery is to open its first store in Kent next week (27 June) as part of its rapid expansion across the UK.

Located in the centre of County Square Shopping Centre in Ashford, the store is being opened in partnership with local businessman Slawomir Szulc and has created eight new jobs for local residents. It represents Warrens Bakery’s 20th franchise store in Britain.

Pasties, artisan breads, sandwiches and sweet treats will be among the items on sale, alongside hot and cold drinks which can be taken away or consumed in the seating area in the square.

“We are looking forward to launching the first Warrens Bakery store in Kent and cannot wait to open its doors in Ashford and welcome the town’s residents. We chose Warrens Bakery as we felt a traditional British craft bakery, offering fresh, innovative and exciting products, would work really well in the area,” said Szulc. “With a passion for great customer service and quality products and a varied range, we look forward to serving the people of Ashford and integrating into the local community.”

Carl Mortimer, franchise operations manager at Warrens Bakery, added: “We’re delighted to be opening a store in the heart of the ‘Garden of England’ as we continue to grow the Warrens Bakery family far and wide across the UK.”

The business is planning to open a further 750 bakeries in the next five years. Recent additions to its portfolio include a site in Bicester, Oxfordshire and one in Bognor Regis which Warrens CEO Mark Sullivan described as the “first of many” on the south coast.
