n Workers of Dorset Bakery of Hybris Business Park, Crossways, spent three days campaigning against a car-spraying workshop they claim is contaminating products and making them ill. Staff stopped working when they suspected fumes from the neighbouring Colortec workshop were seeping through and into the bakery's products. The employees demonstrated in South Street, Dorchester, to highlight their concerns.

n British Sugar said Ireland is an important strategic market for its growing international business after opening an office in Dublin last month.


n A series of one-day sandwich and specialist bread workshops presented by Tom Bridge will be held from 9 January to 18 January 2007 at Bako North Western in Preston. Bridge is a master chef and food writer. The day will include new ideas for sandwich fillings with healthy options together with ideas for presenting sandwiches on exciting breads. n UK coffee roaster Douwe Egberts has been named as one of the UK's coolest brands. CoolBrands is an initiative from the Superbrands Organistaion, which has joined forces with YouGov, to ask consumers which brands they rate as 'CoolBrands'.
