The organisers of National Doughnut Week hope to celebrate its 20th anniversary by involving a bumper number of bakers.

More than 100 companies have signed up so far and it is hoped at least another 50 will get involved in the week from 714 May by donating a percentage of their doughnut sales to The Children’s Trust.

This year, National Doughnut Week will be featured on Sky’s Food Network programme 262 for two weeks from 1 May, giving it a higher profile.

Organiser Chris Freeman, who hopes to raise at least £50k, said: "This is a great opportunity to promote your business. Local radio and press stations love events like this, so please get behind it."
