Products currently on retailers’ shelves, which claim to be low fat, can actually be anything up to 17% fat and consumers can feel misled, says ingredients manufacturer Cereform (Northampton).
The company’s Choice products, which include cake mixes, concentrates, and icings, contain less than 3% fat. “These will become the benchmark against which other low-fat offerings are set,” says a spokesperson.
