Hairy Bikers become Hairy Bakers

 - Published:  23 July, 2008

TV chefs The Hairy Bikers have been renamed The Hairy Bakers for a BBC2 series screening later this summer.

Bike and food-mad duo Dave Myers and Simon King have travelled around the UK, from Cornwall to the Scottish Highlands, speaking to the best professional bakers and pie makers as well as hobbyists. The series will explore the history of bread, and each episode will include recipes and tastings as well as discussions with industry experts.

“Think Hairy Bikers with a liberal dusting of flour and you’ve got you hands in the dough mix that is The Hairy Bakers,” said King.

The pair’s adventures include making homemade naan bread on the shores of a midge-infested lake, and producing Bakewell Tart in the Bakewell pudding shop before travelling back in time on a pair of “priceless” Brough Superior Bikes.
