Buyer sought for Medway plant

 - Published:  30 May, 2008

Administrators for Medway Foods are still looking for a buyer for the collapsed firm’s Isle of Sheppey plant.

Medway, which supplied foodservice, retail, bakery and manufacturers, went into administration in February. The company had three plants, in Bridgend, Wales, and Whitstable and Isle of Sheppey in Kent.

A team of former managers bought out its pastry business in Bridgend, but Medway’s Whitstable plant has been closed down due to lack of interest from buyers, according to a spokesman for administrators Deloitte.

The Isle of Sheppey plant, meanwhile, is still up for grabs. Deloitte’s spokesman said: “We’re continuing to trade the Isle of Sheppey site while we look for a buyer. Hopefully, we will sell that as a going concern.”
