Yorkshire based family bakery The Topping Pie Company has been shortlisted for the Deliciouslyorkshire taste awards for its two products: Queen’s pie and Game & Poultry pie.

At the end of August, a team of expert judges nibbled their way through over 350 entries from the regions food and drink producers – with the bakery products nominated to be a finalist.

The awards ceremony will be hosted by BBC Radio 2 broadcaster Nigel Barden who will reveal this year’s category winner as well as the 2016 overall champion at the Pavilions of Harrogate on Wednesday 2 November.

Andrea McKenzie, press officer for Toppings Pies told British Baker: “We are absolutely delighted to be shortlisted for our products, it’s true testament of the quality and hard work that goes into handcrafting our Yorkshire made pies.

“We are proud to have won more than 40 awards, including the prestigious Great Taste Awards, for our products over the years and it’s great that we have been named as finalists again this year in the Deliciouslyorkshire Taste Awards.”

Toppings Pies was originally set up as a butcher’s shop, and has been in business in Doncaster for the past 50 years.

In August, Toppings Pies donated 1,400 pies and quiches to the Thorne & Moorends Community hub, which offers food and support to those suffering from food poverty.
