Gail’s Artisan Bakery, the Luke Johnson-backed group, is to open sites in St Albans, Hertfordshire and One Tower Bridge, London.

The openings, which will happen before the end of 2016, bring the Gail’s portfolio up to 32.

Earlier this year, the company opened its first regional sites in Oxford and Farnham, and is believed to be looking at opportunities in Cambridge and Guildford.#

Bread Holdings, the parent company of both Gail’s and wholesaler The Bread Factory, saw revenue increase by 41.5% to £63.8m in the year ending 29 February 2016. It said this was driven by growth in both its retail and wholesale businesses.

The group reported retail sales up 23.6% to £23.9m, while wholesale revenues climbed 59.2% to £46.7m during the year, partly driven by acquisitions.

Gail’s saw top-line growth of 32% in the year and The Bread Factory’s sales were up 16%.
