Supermarket giants Morrisons and Sainsbury’s have taken the precautionary measure to recall some of their chilled desserts after manufacturer Bakkavör reported they could contain flakes of metal.

The affected items are Sainsbury’s 4-pack Belgian Chocolate Éclairs with a use-by date of 8-9 August, Sainsbury’s 12 Belgian Chocolate Profiteroles with an 8 August use-by date, and Morrisons’ Cake Shop 4 Cream Chocolate Éclairs, with a use-by date of 7 August.

This is the second time in the space of three weeks that Morrisons has had to issue a recall for its desserts, after it found that its Busy Bee cake may have contained traces of salmonella.

In a statement, Sainsbury’s commented: “We apologise for the inconvenience this may have caused.”

The supermarkets urged anyone who has purchased the items in question not to consume them, and to return to them to the store where they were purchased for a full refund.
