Costa Coffee, the high street coffee giant, is trialling a SuperDay Smoothies range across two regions in the UK.

The company said it wants to extend its barista-crafted cold drinks range from this month and offer customers “real and healthy alternatives” with the Smoothies.

The SuperDay Smoothies range is chilled and contains fruit blended with apple juice and ice to produce a drink containing two of the recommended five portions of fruit or vegetables a day.

There are three flavours, which comprise grape, watermelon and strawberry; melon, apple, kiwi and pineapple; and melon, mango and passion fruit. They are priced from £3.50 and are available at 35 stores in South Yorkshire and South East London until the end of September.

Carol Welch, group brand & innovation director, said: “We are excited about the trial which answers a real customer challenge. Eating a balanced diet is something we all strive to do. Extending the handcrafting skills of our baristas to offer fresh fruit smoothies containing 2 of your 5 a day provides even greater choice for our customers.”
