Burton’s Biscuit Company has added another cookie flavour to the popular Maryland Gooeys range.

Launched in 2013, a crunchy peanut cookie, complete with chocolate goo in the centre, has joined the Gooeys portfolio.

They are available in 160g packs and cases of eight (RRP £1.79).

David Costello, head of customer category management, said: “Multi -award-winning Maryland Gooeys was the biggest sweet biscuit launch of 2013, with over 2m households purchasing Gooeys in its first year.

“Building on this success, the new peanut variant will capitalise on the surge in consumer demand for peanut butter that is seeing growth year on year.”

The Gooeys peanut launch follows the introduction earlier this year of Maryland Soft Baked, the American-style soft cookies, and, more recently, Maryland Mix’ems, targeted at families with teenage children, contributing to the brand’s £46.8m sales in the last 12-month period.
