A Pat-A-Cake bakery and sandwich shop in Workington, has been put up for sale after the business went into liquidation last year (British Baker, 1 December, 2006) .

Fifty-four people lost their jobs when the company closed its bakery and six shops in November.Liquidator Tenon Recovery said the firm's trade had dropped after increased competition from other high street bakeries and there was no hope of selling it on as a viable business.

Martin Shaw, of Tenon Recovery, said his focus was now on selling off the company's assets to pay its creditors.

He added that the other five shops were all rented properties not owned by the business.
