Krispy Kreme and Lotus Biscoff have teamed up to launch a doughnut that uses the popular biscuit flavour.

The Krispy Kreme Lotus Caramelised Biscoff Doughnut combines many of the newest innovations from Lotus. Last year it launched Biscoff crumbs and Biscoff spread – both of which are utilised in the new doughnut, which is now on sale for £1.90 at more than 500 Tesco Extra stores as well as all Krispy Kreme stores nationwide for a limited time.

The doughnut is filled with the Lotus Caramelised biscuit spread, iced with a Biscoff biscuit spread and topped with Biscoff biscuit crumb and white chocolate shavings.

In celebration of the launch, Lotus Biscoff is encouraging bakers to create their own recipes, using either the biscuit or the spread. Bakers can click here to upload their recipe with a photo for the chance to win a host of Lotus products.

Frances Booth, category marketing manager at Lotus Bakeries, said: “We are absolutely delighted that Krispy Kreme has chosen to partner with Lotus Biscoff and are even more thrilled that they have decided to jointly brand the doughnut to feature the Biscoff name.

“It is a significant step for the brand as an ingredient and one we will look to exploit further in 2015.”

Alison Reeves, marketing manager at Krispy Kreme, explained that the company’s development chefs were looking for a product that could be featured as both a filling and a topping for one of their doughnuts.

“After understanding the loyal following that Biscoff has across its products, it made sense that the brand featured in the name of the Krispy Kreme doughnut itself.”
