Factory expansion at Ginsters
Ginsters has opened a £3.5m extension to its savouries factory in Cornwall with a promise to boost its purchase of local produce.
The company, which has annual sales of £225m, said it already spends about £9m a year on local supplies of beef, swedes, potatoes, onions and cheese and that it was encouraging local farmers to grow more wheat for milling.
The extension at Callington was paid for in part by a £1.29m grant under the European Agricultural Guidance and Guarantee scheme for deprived areas.
The work, which took eight months, has provided more production space and more storage space for raw materials and finished products. New ovens have been installed.
