British Bakels is hosting a demonstration day for students and bakers based in the West Glamorgan region of Wales next week.
Taking place in the bakery department of Neath Port Talbot College on Tuesday 26 February, the event will see representatives from the bakery ingredients supplier offering technical guidance on bread faults, as well as information on the function of bread improvers and practical workshops, to around 40 bakery students.
Trainee bakers will also be able to learn more about the company, as well as career opportunities within the industry, and the day will be rounded off with a ‘Brain of Bakels’ quiz in which the winner will receive a certificate and a prize.
Keith Houliston, sales director at British Bakels, told British Baker: “We feel these events go down quite well with bakery students, and offering a prize for the quiz on what they have learnt during the day is great incentive.”
The company has also invited a number of bakery firms from the local region to an evening event in which bakers can observe a range of British Bakels’ bread products, including artisanal, multiseed, chia, and oat and barley breads.
Houliston will be attending the event, alongside key account manager Nick Darroch, as well as technical support managers Dave Kelland and Dave Carter.
