Starbucks to open in India

03 October, 2012

Starbucks Coffee is continuing its global expansion and is to open its first store in India at the end of October.

The store is being opened through Tata Starbucks, a 50/50 joint venture between Starbucks and Tata Global Beverages.

John Culver, president, Starbucks China and Asia-Pacific, said he would introduce locally sourced espresso.

“Being able to use the highest-quality espresso, sourced and roasted in India, is an important part of delivering a local experience to our customers.”

He added the move would improve the profile of Indian-grown arabica coffees around the world by elevating the stature of Indian coffee, as well as improving the quality of coffee through sustainable practices.

The first store will be in the Horniman Circle area of Mumbai.
