The national statistics were published yesterday and collated by the Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs (Defra), including information on the usage of wheat, oat and barley.
The total amount of wheat milled in April was 468,000t, down 1%, while imported wheat milled showed a 14% decline on the same month last year coming in at 49,000 tonnes.
Data was accumulated from the Wheat Millers and Flour Producers, the Brewers, Distillers and Maltsters and the Oatmeal Millers Surveys, produced by Defra.
Oat usage was up 3% between January and March, compared to the same period in 2011, with a total of 124,000t of oats milled in the three-month timeframe.
Results for the usage of wheat, barley and brewers and maltsters will be released monthly and are due to be updated on 5 July 2012.
