Vision Capital has ordered a shake-up of former Northern Foods' bakery businesses, after its purchase of the assets was approved by shareholders on 15 January.

Some 50 jobs are to go at Pork Farm Bowyers in Trowbridge, which makes pork pies, sausage rolls and similar products, as part of changes planned for the next four to five months. A statement from the firm said: "It is proposed to consolidate the Trowbridge operation into two of the three buildings currently in use."

And more than 250 jobs are to go at Northern Foods' Riverside Bakery in Nottingham. Production of ready meals is being transferred to Sheffield and Carlisle, creating 190 jobs there. Quiche production will continue at Riverside. The factory employs 650 people, 390 of whom will transfer to the new owners.

The businesses bought by Vision are Fletchers, which consists of a head office based at Sheffield (where the main manufacturing facility is located), together with three other manufacturing sites at Whitefield, Harlesden and Barnsley.

The chilled pastry division manufactures chilled savoury pastry products at six sites: Market Drayton, two sites in Nottingham, Trowbridge, Shaftesbury and Sheffield.

Park Cakes labels ambient and chilled bakery products on two sites at Oldham and Bolton, for a number of own-label customers.

Smith Flour Mills runs from three sites at Worksop, Langley Mill and Holbeach.
